"I don’t paint houses, barns, or boats at the harbor. I paint patterns of light and shadow, color, texture, shapes, and emotion. “Porch Light” is a painting of light falling on the side porch of a house in Rockland, Maine. The late afternoon sun illuminated the beautiful weathered architectural elements with a golden yellow light, balanced by blue shadows. The front porch was beautifully maintained, but the side porch drew my attention: its ornate architectural features contrasted by the peeling paint. When I create a painting of an old structure, I know it had meaning in someone’s life. If this house could speak, I am sure it would have stories to tell".
